Celebrating Pakistan’s Independence Day with PAWA
The Pakistani Association of Western Australia (PAWA) organised an event to honour Pakistan’s Independence Day at the Vasto Club in Balcatta, Western Australia on Sunday 18 August 2024.
The event brought together over 600 people, creating a lively and diverse atmosphere. Attendees included families, community members and VIPs, including Mayor of Gosnells, Terresa Lynes and Walkley award winning journalist and human rights advocate, Sophie McNell, to celebrate Pakistan's rich heritage.
As the national anthems of Pakistan and Australia echoed through the venue, attendees stood in unison, their hearts swelling with pride. The shared respect for both nations underscored the event's significance.
The event featured captivating cultural performances. Traditional dances, vibrant costumes, and poems transported everyone to the heart of Pakistan, with the recitations of the holy Quran adding a spiritual touch.
Two of our co-founders, Affy Bhatti and Omair Chodhry were awarded certificates of appreciation for their achievements as members of the Pakistani community.
Bless Payments was proud to be a major sponsor of this event highlighting our commitment to the community and the importance of corporate social responsibility.
PAWA aims to promote friendship and goodwill between the people of Australia and Pakistan and to develop and promote social, cultural and sporting activities amongst its members.
